Fo Guang Shan Manchester temple runs a number of events each year, including the following:
Celebrations are held annually in FGS Manchester to commemorate the birthday of the Buddha. This includes bathing the baby buddha, traditional ceremonies, speeches given by venerables of various temples and other dignitaries, a cultural festival including a variety of singing and dancing and a food stall.
The temple celebrates Chinese new year's eve with traditional sutra chanting, incense offerings, blessings and a speech by the venerable. The following day, the temple maintains a stall in the Chinese New Years day celebration in Chinatown, where visitors can offer incense to the Buddha.
This is a summer school designated for children aged between 5-20, around May or June. Its a cultural event where youngsters are trained to master Chinese art and culture, and also to get an appreciation of Buddhism.
The temple also organises special services such as the Ulambana (ancestors) service, a cultural festival celebrating the 15th day of Chinese New Year, etc.
